Granola review for freelancers
AI notepad that writes meeting notes from your device audio, with no bot joining the call.
Our review
Granola captures meeting audio from your device rather than sending a bot into the call, then turns your rough notes and the transcript into structured meeting notes. Its pricing page lists a free Basic plan with AI notes, templates and 30 days of meeting history, and Business at $14 per user per month with unlimited history, pre-meeting briefs, follow-up emails and integrations with Notion, HubSpot, Zapier and others. Apps are listed for desktop, iOS and Android. For a consultant it keeps call notes tidy without making clients feel watched by a bot, though you should still tell participants you are recording. The free plan's 30-day history limit means regular users will likely need Business. Otter, Fireflies and Fathom are alternatives.
Pros
- No meeting bot joins your calls
- Free plan to try it
- Business adds follow-up emails and CRM and Notion integrations
Cons
- Free plan keeps only 30 days of history
- Per-user pricing adds up for small teams
- You still need participants' consent to record
