Descript review for freelancers
Edit video and podcasts by editing the transcript.
Our review
Descript lets you edit audio and video by editing text, with filler-word removal, Studio Sound and clip creation. Its pricing page lists a free plan plus Hobbyist and Creator tiers, with media hours and AI credits capped per month. It can speed up podcast and talking-head editing. Complex multi-track or colour work is better elsewhere, and credit caps matter on bigger projects.
Pros
- Text-based editing workflow
- Free plan available
- Good cleanup tools
Cons
- Not for heavy post-production
- Hour and credit caps
- Learning curve if you come from timeline editors
